Manuel “Manny” Garcez March 6, 1919 – Oct 22, 2008 Resident of Oakland Manuel was born in New Bedford, MA and passed away in Pleasanton at the age of 89. Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Virginia and 2 brothers, George Gracey and Fernando Garcez. He is survived by 2 sons, Jerry Allen Garcez of Paris, AR and Randy Pestana Garcez of Yorba Linda, CA; 3 sisters, Bella Perry, Cecile Byrne and Christine Souza; 4 grandchildren, Kelli Garcez, Chris Garcez, Shannon McVey and Adrianne Garcez; and 4 great-grandchildren, Alexis Garcez, Cole McVey, Gavin Garcez and Baby McVey. Manuel was involved with the AC Transit Union, the Boy Scouts of America and the Madeiran Social Club Hayward. Manny enjoyed leather crafting and teaching others this lost art. He had an infectious spirit and smile. He always wanted to make people laugh, telling light-hearted jokes and even becoming a clown. Family and Friends are invited to a viewing on Mon. 10/27/08 from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. and the Funeral Service on Tues. 10/28/08 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA.
