Luisa Esther Velazquez's Obituary
Luisa Esther Velazquez Born on March 25, 1943 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico to Juan & Isabel Velazquez, at the age of 18 Luisa moved to Hayward, CA with her parents and siblings. In 1965 she met her future husband and love of her life Neri Velazquez whom she was with since August 7, 1967. Known for her quiet and gentle spirit with the heart of a humble servant, she always wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she is survived by her loving husband Neri, her children Lissy, David & Lisa; her grandchildren: Vally, Anthony, Joseph & Evie. Her siblings; Manuel Velazquez (RIP), Margo Nieves, Juan & Rosa Velazquez & Ramona Silva. She came to know the Lord in 1985 at Victory Outreach Hayward where she supported her husband teaching the Spanish classes while also opening up their home for fellowships. You would always be greeted with a warm welcome and offering of some good Puerto Rican food. Even if you said you were not hungry she would not be denied. Luisa was known for her arroz con gandules & abichuelas gisado among many other yummy treats. It was no secret that her favorite place to eat was at Hometown Buffet and she always looked forward to any family gathering where she might enjoy herself some good pineapple pie... her favorite. Having taken care of all the neighborhood kids, her house was a known favorite hang out spot among her kids & grandkids friends. She would always look forward to her Saturdays which is when she would have her weekly shopping trips with her sisters and best friends. Holidays were especially her favorite time of the year to spend with her family and friends. She would always wait until the very last minute on Christmas Eve to wrap her 100 plus presents while waiting for midnight to arrive and have a good time and listening to her family play Aguinaldos navideños (traditional Puerto Rican Christmas music). On November 17, 2011 God sent his angels to bring her home into his presence, forever in our hearts and never forgotten...
