Luigi C. Favero's Obituary
Luigi Celeste Favero passed away last week in his home. He was a proud life-long resident of California, graduate of the University of California Berkeley, loving family man, wine connoisseur, and lover of classical music. Luigi was a doting father who often said his greatest achievement was his daughter Adrianna Favero. He was a supporter of charitable works and community service. Luigi was an avid reader of any and everything. He often read two or more books each week. He shared his love for knowledge through the Hayward Literacy Project where he acted as a tutor teaching adults how to read. Many of the students were new immigrants to the United States.Math was Luigi’s college major and love, he enjoyed its structure and challenges. In his retirement, he met regularly with a friend to debate experimental math theorems. Luigi had a way of tutoring friends and local students in math that clarified for them the complex into the understandable.Upon graduation from UC Berkeley, Luigi worked as a programmer for several firms. He then moved on to sales of electrical testing equipment where he ultimately became the Western Regional Sales Manager. Recruiting engineers and programmers for the tech industry consumed the latter part of his career and he enjoyed the ability to help people find jobs and build meaningful careers. His father Luigi Favero, his mother Audra Favero and his brother Arthur Favero preceded Luigi in death.Luigi is survived by his daughter Adrianna Favero of Brooklyn, New York; three sisters: Alice Riley Jordan of Oakland, Linda Bonde of Menlo Park, and Cheryl Glass of Hayward; and three brothers: John Favero of Salinas, Peter Favero of Ventura, and Gino Favero of Brea. He also leaves behind an aunt and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the American Heart Association and the Hayward Literacy Project.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA.
