Lucy Luna's Obituary
Our mother, lovingly known as Ma, was born in Marquez, Texas, to Manuel and Cruz Baez. She was the ninth of ten children. Her family later moved from Texas to Nebraska, and in 1955 she made her way to California, where she lived and worked throughout the Central Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.
She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, love for family, caring nature, selflessness, and protective spirit. She was known for giving honest advice and helping others find the right direction, all while never passing judgment. She touched many lives with her kind yet straightforward way of communicating.
Ma was known for her love of walking, gardening, and cooking. The smell of her homemade flour tortillas and pumpkin bread meant you were in for a treat. She always finished what she started, whether it was one of her many crocheting or sewing projects, including the beautiful clothes she lovingly made for her children. She also loved fried chicken and ice cream.
Ma is survived by her seven children: Victoria (Kenneth), Martha (Randy), Patricia, Beatrice, Elizabeth, Victor Jr., and Dolores (Johnny). She was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She showed her love for her family in the only way she knew how.
Ma will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who knew and loved her. Though our hearts mourn her loss, we rejoice in the life she lived and the love she gave to us all.
'When tomorrow starts without me, please understand. An angel came and called my name and took me by the hand. The angel said my place was ready, In Heaven far above. I would have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home, for our Lord looked down and smiled at me. He said, “Welcome Home”. So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.'
