LUCILLE GALLEGOS's Obituary
Lucille Gallegos of Fremont, CA, passed away peacefully in her home in San Diego, CA with her daughter at her side on Saturday, September 24. She was 93 years old.Lucille is survived by her three children, Deborah Flores of San Diego, CA, Roland Gallegos of Chandler, AZ and Santiago Gallegos of Venice, FL; her 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Gallegos; her brothers Pat Sandoval and Lee Sandoval, and her sister Vickie Reed.Lucille was born on June 16, 1923 in Clovis, NM to Lee and Millie Sandoval. She married her childhood friend, Fred Gallegos in 1937, at the age of 17. They had two sons, moved to San Francisco, and ten years later, a daughter and eventually moved to Fremont, CA, where they resided for 45 years.In addition to her faith in God, Lucille instilled her deep appreciation for music, dance and performing arts in her children and grandchildren. Her support and encouragement was the result of a number of family careers launched in the arts, including her daughter Deborah Flores, a professional vocalist in San Diego, CA. Lucille herself will be remembered for an exceptional tap dance number performed at the age of 70 at Chabot College in Hayward, CA, directed by her granddaughter, Jamie Zimmerman.After Fred’s passing, Lucille moved into her daughter’s care in 2004 in San Diego and enjoyed watching her youngest great-grandson come of age. Lucille will be remembered as a devoted wife, whose unconditional love of her husband was returned unequivocally throughout their 64 years of marriage.A memorial service celebrating Lucille’s life will be held on Saturday, October 1 at 1:00pm in Orinda, CA.
