Lourdes Alpay Corpuz's Obituary
Lourdes A. Corpuz passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 7th, 2024 on her 84th birthday surrounded by her loving family in her home in Hayward, California. She was born in Pagbilao, Quezon in the Philippines and the eldest daughter of Timoteo and Josefa Alpay. She married Rolando S. Corpuz in 1964, and together they raised seven children. “Lulu” went to college at Mapua Institute of Technology (The MIT of the Philippines) and graduated with a BS in Chemistry. She worked as a Physics and Chemistry teacher in Manila and later on at the National Science Development Board promoting science awareness throughout the Philippines. She also organized National Science Fairs and Quiz throughout the country until their family moved to California in 1985. She worked as a Special Education teacher, learned Braille, and taught Braille for the visually impaired before she retired. Lulu spoke her mind and fought for what she believed in, her family and her faith. She is survived by her husband Rody; her 7 children Ronnie, Marylou, Cieline, Gloria, Joanna, Barbette and Abs; her 14 grandchildren; and her 2 remaining sisters Mercy and Rosemarie. Family, friends and others whose life Lulu touched, are invited to her celebration of life vigil on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 at Chapel of the Chimes, her funeral services at St. Bedes Church on Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 followed by her interment at Holy Sepulchre, which are all located in Hayward, California.
