Lorraine Martin's Obituary
Lorraine Leora Martin July 13, 1918 – June 19, 2009 Resident of Fremont Born to Aurora and York Houck on July 13, 1918 with twin brother, Lawrence. Lorraine passed away on June 19, 2009, at the age of 90 with her family by her side. She was raised at her family’s home place on Durham Road in Irvington and graduated from Washington High School. She and Alvin were married 66 years and lived in Fremont their whole lives. She was preceded in death by Alvin and her siblings; Fred Houck, Florence Houck and Lawrence Houck. She was a loving mother to son Jack Martin and wife Carole; son Gary Martin and wife Janice; daughter, Carole Pine and husband Richard; daughter, Gayle Martin. She was also blessed with 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Aunt Lorraine was a very special “mom” to her nephew, Jim Houck and wife Toni. Her favorite place in the whole world was the “Ranch” in the Sierras, which has been in the family for three generations. Many great times were had there with family and friends. Lorraine could always be found in the kitchen cooking, cleaning and feeding the masses. She loved gardening and playing cards – Pedro, in particular – into the wee hours of the morning! She loved surrounding herself with family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES MEMORIAL PARK AND FUNERAL HOME, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA.
