Loretta Rose Evitt April 25, 1931 – April 26, 2019 Resident of HaywardLoretta, a beloved mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 26th, 2019 one day after her 88th birthday.Born and raised in Lyford, Indiana, she was one of 9 children born to Bert Harris and Jennie Cornell. In July, 1951 she married Robert “Bob” Evitt Sr. and had three children Bobby, Gary and Debbie before relocating the family to California.Always the hard worker, Loretta worked as a Telephone Operator and later at Columbia Records in Terre Haute, Indiana. After the move to California, she worked at Eimac in San Carlos for many years until her retirement.She had so much love and compassion for anyone that crossed her path and made everyone who entered her home feel like a part of the family. No one would ever leave her home hungry. She was unbelievably selfless. Her heart and generosity knew no bounds and she always gave so much and asked for nothing in return, always putting others first.A self-taught pianist, she loved to play honky-tonk music and entertain friends and family. She adored animals and gave loving homes to many over the years.Loretta is survived by her children Bob (Joan) Evitt and Debbie (Henry) Jiminez, her Grandchildren Brian (Rian) Evitt, Kristin Evitt, Yvette (Jeremy) Jiminez-Way, Niki (Cherish) Jiminez, and her Great Grandchildren, Faith Evitt, Kaitlyn Evitt, Emalie Evitt, Chase Jiminez, Mia Way and Kylie Way. She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Bob and her beloved son Gary Evitt.The family would like to thank the staff at AIC Facility for the Elderly and Vitas Hospice for the wonderful care they gave to our mother.A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, May 10th at 9:30 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home in Hayward.
