She was “Nana” to all, she treated step grandchildren with the same love and caring as those that shared her blood. She always had a pet-dogs, birds, goldfish. She had a green thumb, would often bring dying or neglected plants back to life.Nana loved to cook for her friends and family. Her specialties included country gravy with biscuits, fried chicken, fried okra, navy and pinto beans and cornbread.She loved to visit casinos saying “It’s my money and I’ll spend it how I want to!” She made her last visit to Las Vegas in February 2016. Her favorite local casino was Black Oak Resort in Tuolumne.Nana was one-quarter Cherokee Indian. When her mother would come to visit with the family, they would chatter back and forth in the Cherokee language.
