Loren W. Enoch 02/18/1920 – 02/08/2014 Resident of Castro ValleyLoren William Enoch was born February 18, 1920, in Lewiston, Idaho, to Genevieve Lynn and James Roy Enoch. In 1939, he graduated from Clarkston, Washington High School. Upon graduation from Lewiston Normal School in 1942, Loren joined the Army-Air Corps and was assigned to the 335th Bomb Squadron. Stationed in England, he served as a navigator on B-17s in the European Theater, including Normandy, France and Rhineland. After he was discharged in 1945 as a Sergeant, Loren began his public service career with Los Angeles County until 1961, when he was appointed County Administrator of Ventura County. In 1971, he accepted the appointment to County Administrator of Alameda County, and retired from that position in 1978.Loren was preceded in death by his brother Wendell and several of his in-laws. Loren is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty, sister-in-law Patricia Enoch, sons William (Jennifer) and Donald (Beth), stepsons Albert (Alice), Craig (Gina) and David Shields, and stepdaughter Mary Bernardini. He is also survived by four grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, plus nephews and nieces and their families. He leaves behind many loving friends, including his wife’s large relation and his caretakers at St. John Kronstadt Care Center in Castro Valley.A military service will be held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620 on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 11AM.
