Lonia Howell's Obituary
Lonia Howell passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Casa de Modesto nursing facility in Modesto, CA. Lonia Howell was born November 29, 1929 in Independence, Oklahoma, daughter of Henry and Hettie Dyke. She was married to Leo Edwin Howell August 17, 1946. Leo Howell preceded her death November 10, 2001. They were happily married for 55 years.Lonia Howell was the first lady of the City of Hayward from 1970-1974. As first lady she was known for her beauty, style and grace. Lonia worked beside her husband as a Real Estate Broker for 50 years until their retirement.She is survived by and will be forever deeply missed by her daughter Shirley Kriss, son-in-law John E. Kriss Jr., granddaughter Stephanie Kriss and grandson Brian Kriss, as well as many nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband, she was sadly preceded in death by her son Ronald Lee Howell December 28, 1983.She will be forever loved and missed more than words can ever express.She was buried at Chapel of the Chimes with her husband and son on October 5, 2017.
