Lolita Ramos Najera Sundita's Obituary
Our beloved Lolita Ramos Najera Sundita went home to the Lord at the age of 91 on April 16,
2024 in Tracy, California. She was the third of eight children born to Arsenio Avellana Nagera
and Edilberta Abiada Ramos on February 14, 1933 in Daet, Camarines Norte, Bicol, Philippines.
In 1951, she graduated from Mabini College in Daet where she took secretarial courses. After
college, she worked as a clerk and typist in offices throughout Daet. She married Ernesto
Fermin Sundita, Sr., who was then a soldier in the Philippine Army stationed near Daet, on June
28, 1953; their union would eventually produce 6 sons and 1 daughter.
In the late 1950s, Lolita and Ernesto moved to Guadalupe Nuevo, Makati. In 1967, Lolita and
her family left the Philippines to start a new life in the United States, first settling in San
Francisco where she worked as a keypunch operator at dress designer Emma Domb’s company.
for several years. Afterwards, she went on to work for the U.S. Government where she would
spend the last 30 years of her career, first at the U.S. Mint and finally at U.S. Customs.
In the 1980s she and Ernesto owned Sundita’s Restaurant on Mission Street in San Francisco
where they served Filipino and American food.
Lolita was, along with other members of the Sundita family, an active member of the Guadalupe
Club of California, Inc. since its founding up until her passing; she served as the first secretary.
She also loved playing bingo and going to the casino. At home, she enjoyed watching Jeopardy.
and her other favorite TV shows and doing her daily rosary.
In addition to San Francisco, Lolita was a resident of Daly City, Fremont, Hayward, Union City,
and Tracy.
Lolita is preceded in death by her firstborn child, Rodolfo in 1999; her husband of 59 years,
Ernesto Sr., in 2012; her fourth child, Ernesto Jr. in 2020; and all of her siblings (Gloria,
Salvador, Armando, Leticia, Wilfredo, Eduardo).
She is survived by:
Five of her children: Nestor (Elizabeth) of Eatonville, Washington; Melvin (Erlinda) of Fremont;
Wilson of Union City; Maribeth of Tracy; Allan of Union City; daughter-in-law, Lerma (widow of
Rodolfo) of Sacramento
17 grandchildren: Jennifer (William), Mark (Monica), Ernesto III, Janice (Carl), Christopher
(Lykos), James, Alexander (Cristina), Joseph, Vanessa (Raymart), Daniel (Madel), Jonathan
(Tawny), James (Eileen), Joshua, Brandon (Trina), Britney, Amanda, and Aton
19 great-grandchildren: Sessi, Lynnie, Marina, Ernesto IV, Rudi, Mia, Julian, Micah, Lucca,
Klowee, Delinda, Sopheeya, Jehoshua, JJ, Jaiden, Janae, Lennox, Weston, and Noah. She was
looking forward to the birth of her great-grandson Elijah Zayne

One brother-in-law: Benjamin Talosig of Marysville
Lolita will also be dearly missed by her numerous nieces, nephews, and friends worldwide.
Viewing for Lolita will be held in the Reflection Room at Chapel of the Chimes on Wednesday
May 8 and Thursday, May 9 from 4pm to 8pm with Rosary vigil at 6pm on both evenings.
Funeral services will be on Friday, May 10 at 11am with burial at 2pm.
