Smith-Wallace, Lola Ruth's Obituary
Lola Wallace, age 83, of Fremont, California, passed away peacefully after a long battle with dementia. Born on June 2, 1941, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, she spent her early years in the warmth and close-knit spirit of her hometown. As a teenager, Lola moved with her family to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she met her future husband, Gene Wallace. In the late 1950s, the couple relocated to California, eventually settling in Hayward. Later in life, Lola found love again with James Smith, and they made their home in Fremont from 1976 onwards.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Lola is survived by her beloved children: John Wallace, James Wallace, and Shelly (Lujan) Wallace. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Rachel Maier, Kimberly Ann Wallace, Justin Wallace, and Colby Wallace, as well as her great-grandchildren: Lola Maier, Berkeley Maier, and Zilayah Ricki Ware.
Lola will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and generous spirit. She was a constant caregiver, filling her home with love and making everyone feel welcome. Her greatest joy came from spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and the deep connections she nurtured throughout her life.
Throughout her life, Lola showed a quiet strength, facing challenges with grace and a positive outlook. She found happiness in the simple things—cherishing moments with her loved ones and embracing life’s little joys. Even in her later years, her love for life remained unwavering.
Lola’s presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and an enduring love for her family. Rest in peace, Lola Wallace, as you find comfort in your heavenly home, with the love and gratitude of all whose lives you touched.
