Lloyd "Dean" Nowak's Obituary
Lloyd “Dean” Nowak was born in San Francisco, California on August 16, 1928; he lived a long and healthy 90 years. Dean was a long-time resident of San Leandro and current resident of Sun City, Roseville. He passed away peacefully on March 7, 2019 surrounded by family.Dean was born during the Great Depression and was a man of integrity, dignity and respect.After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and completed a two-year stint in Hawaii. Thereafter, he joined the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier where he worked for 35 years.Dean enjoyed watching sports, collecting memorabilia, gardening, projects at home and church, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. He will be remembered as a kind and humble man, generous with actions and words, a sense of humor, and a sincere smile.He will forever be remembered for his determination, perseverance and his favorite saying of “down the road.” He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all.Surviving Dean are his wife Dorothy to whom he was married for 22 years; two daughters Karen (Koch) and Sherilyn (Edwards); brother Tom (Lawrence); nephew Steve (Lawrence); grandson Jason (Edwards); and his great grandchildren Madeira, Bryson, and Carson (Edwards). He is predeceased by his first wife of 40 years Shirley (Nowak); his brother William (Nowak); and his grandson Jeffrey Edwards.A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church, 629 I Street, Lincoln, CA 95648. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Dean’s memory be sent to the church for beautification and continued restoration or American Kidney Fund (www.kidneyfund.org).
