Linda M. Jefferson's Obituary
Linda Mae Jefferson, the eldest child of the late Estella Mae Hunt and Homer Hunt Sr. was born on November 3, 1940 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She left Little Rock and relocated to California at the age of 7. She was raised by her loving grandmother, Rosetta Ivory, for the first seven years of her life and confessed Christ at an early age. Linda lived most of her life in Oakland, CA. In 1994 she moved to Pittsburg, CA and lived there until relocating to Hayward, CA. in 2009. She will best be remembered for the unconditional love that she had for her children. Any time any of her children needed her she was there for them. If she didn’t have a way to help them, she made a way. Linda was a hard worker, and often worked two jobs to support her family. She once worked simultaneously at Jefferson Elementary School and Oak Tree Convalescent Hospital to provide for her children. She also worked at Del Monte Cannery. As mom and dad to her children, she always made sure that her family had a roof above their heads, food on the table, and that her children were always clean and neat in appearance. She ran a structured and disciplined household and made sure that her kids were well-mannered and respectful of others. Linda loved to cook. Everything she cooked was homemade and the food was delicious. She made sure that meals were full-course (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) and snacks were prepared for her children when they returned home from school. There were homemade cinnamon rolls and homemade ice cream waiting for the kids when they returned home from school. The love that Linda shared with her children was unconditional. She dedicated her life to her children. Linda lived the latter part of her years under the loving care of her sister Irma and her son Timothy. She and Irma had a special bond. She often spoke of the love that she had for her baby sister and was very appreciative of the love Irma and Timothy bestowed upon her as her caretakers. Linda enjoyed their outings with family (many trips to “Sacramento” and various restaurants), as well as watching her soap operas and western tv shows. Linda departed this life on October 3, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents Homer Sr. and Estella Hunt and her brother Sylvester Hunt. Linda leaves to cherish her loving memory eight sons (Charles, Timothy, Stevie, Phillip, Curtis, and Marvin Jefferson, James Carter (Silvia), and Lawrence Scott), one daughter (LaTrina Carter), four sisters (Emma, Wilhelmina, Priscilla, and Irma), two brothers (Homer Jr. and Maurice), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
