Lina Martinez was born in Hayward, California at St. Rose Hospital on January 9, 1967. She was born to her mother Marian Nieves, and her father Victor Martinez, who both moved to California from Puerto Rico. Lina had seven siblings; Victor Martinez Jr., Taquin Mariscal, Marian Alvarez, Luis Flores, Jose Gonzalez, Jessica Martinez, and Daniel Martinez. She also had three daughters; Lina Dominguez, Victoria Dominguez, and Andelina Serna, and two grandchildren; Robert Dominguez and Alexina Gomez. Lina was engaged to her childhood friend, Eddie Ortiz, and spent the last seven years of her life with him. She was an all around beautiful woman with the most memorable voice, bright smile, and contagious laugh. Lina is remembered as a loyal, independent, hardworking, and humble person. She was and is the most loving mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend. If you were fortunate enough to know her, you know that she left a special memory with each person she met. Lina was incredibly creative and talented, she enjoyed cooking, baking, capturing moments, and interior decorating. In her free time she loved to be with family and friends, she especially enjoyed quality time with her grandchildren. Lina had a passion for music, it played such a huge role in her life. Whether she was singing, dancing, or just adding to her vast collection of favorite songs, you could always count on hearing the background music as her life played out. Nobody could have a bad day around Lina, she had a way of making everybody laugh no matter what. Although we will never understand a loss this unexpected, we know that she would want us to smile for her. Lina is the definition of strong and she is remembered for the strength she showed each and everyday. We hope everyone she touched throughout her life will carry her memories on through the strength she instilled in us. She will be not only cherished, but deeply missed.
