Lessie Mack's Obituary
Lessie Mack was born October 6, 1926 in Hilly, Louisiana to Jimmy and Winnie Hill. Lessie came from a large family: seven girls and one boy. She was married to the late Prentice Mack. She departed this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2020.
Lessie was blessed to have five beautiful children and a family that brought much joy to her life. She often spoke of how she received Jesus Christ at the age of eleven and joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church. Lessie moved to Oakland, California in 1964 and re-committed her life to Christ where she joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She proudly served as her Sunday School class secretary for many years and was a longtime member of Martha Circle. She made weekly phone calls to the sick and shut-in members for prayer and she always took her work for Christ seriously. Lessie was a godly woman, a wonderful mother, a cherished sister, a true friend and a faithful servant of the Lord.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: four children, Vernia Gardner (Marlow), Alameda, CA, Lula Flowers, Oakland, CA, Jimmy Ray Hill (Edna), Dubach, LA, Delores Mack (Donald), Oakland, CA and her eldest son Arthur Lee Mack (Evelyn) of Celina, TX preceded her in death. One sister, Hessie Richard (Melvin) of Houston, TX. Her other siblings preceded her in death, Mattie Murphy, Lillian Hill, Bessie Wallace, Floyd Hill, Icylene Lewis and Essie Brown. Grandchildren: Phyllis Mack-Jackson (Jerome), Patrick Mack (Sandra), Lovette Mack-Cherry, Thomas Jerome Mack (Sheree), Tracy Gardner (Brianna), Ophelia Denise Gardner, Byron Gardner, Darryl Howard, Ali Flowers, Promise Flowers (Sam), Eric Hill, Cynthia Mason (Edwin), Tammie Hill, Kevin Hill, Dana Mack, Tyrone Mack and Jeffrey Mack (Vickie). Twenty-seven great grandchildren, nine great, great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
