Leota W. Roberts' Obituary
Early morning on July 3rd, God took Leota home, the day after her 97th birthday.
Leota was born on July 2nd, 1924 to Shorty and Allie Osborn in Maysville, Missouri.
She had 2 sisters and 4 brothers that she dearly loved. She was number 6 out of the seven children.
She married Leslie Sullivan and had 3 daughters. Barbara, Patsy and Leslie. Shortly before
their last daughter Leslie was born, her husband Leslie passed away.
On January 7th, 1955, Leota married Elmer ‘Beau’ Roberts.
Beau brought 3 children into the marriage. Gary, Peggy and Ronnie.
Together, they blended their family of six children.
Their family lived in San Lorenzo for many years and they enjoyed going out dancing whenever time allowed.
They enjoyed visiting family on weekends and made many trips to Modesto and Delhi. It wasn’t always easy with six kids, but they made it work.
In 2003 they sold their home in San Lorenzo and moved to Modesto to be closer to family.
Leota and Beau shared 60 years of marriage before he passed away in January 2015.
Leota enjoyed when her grandchildren, her daughter Patsy and her niece Karen made their weekly visits. She loved to look at everyone’s pictures of their families and of their vacations. She would always say, “Go make more memories.”
She also enjoyed having funny pictures taken of herself in silly hats and posted on Facebook. She was always amazed of how many people could see her picture and she loved reading the comments her pictures got!
Leota especially loved April Fool’s Day- She would come up with all kinds of ways to ‘trick’ everyone that she would see that day. She would be kind of ‘laying in wait to get them!’ She was able to get her Grandson Dillon, every time. And then she would have a great laugh!
In her final days, she was well cared for by her grandchildren Monica and Richard Tachiera and Great-Grandson Dillon.
Leota was preceded in death by her husband Elmer ‘Beau’, Children; Barbara, Leslie, Gary, Peggy and Ronnie. Grandchildren; Troy and Gayla, and Great Grandson Anthony, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.
She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Cunningham, 15 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren, 25 Great-Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a ‘No Host’ lunch following the services today for those of you that would like to join us in honor of Leota at her favorite restaurant.
