Leo Baysic Tongson's Obituary
With broken hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father and husband, Leo Baysic Tongson, who left this world on October 28, at the age of 90, in Tracy, CA.
Leo was preceded in death by his father, Ganjerico, and his mother, Adelaida. He is survived by his wife and soulmate of 46 years, Mary Jean; his beloved children, Kliene (and wife, Aissa), Khaylyn, Kheyladd (and partner, Rackel), and Khuvyn Klydd (and partner, Justine); his grandchildren, Klisha, Klyne, and Kailijah; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family in the Philippines, Guam, and the United States—all of whom will miss him dearly.
His love for music led him to the stage as a young man, where he performed with friends at local fiestas and special events. A gifted singer, Leo’s voice was a source of joy, echoing through the years in cherished memories and family gatherings. He took immense pride in his collection of long-play records and could often be found singing along to his favorite tunes, earning him the affectionate title “King of Karaoke.”
Leo pursued his passion for learning and education with dedication, attending a University School of Engineering & Architecture. While in college, he worked tirelessly as a high school teacher and, later, a principal, inspiring countless students with his commitment to education. He continued his studies in college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education, a Master of Arts in Education, and eventually a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
He is a man of faith and devotion. His unwavering belief in God guided him through life, and he instilled in his children the values he held dear—hard work, integrity, kindness, and unity.
Leo’s legacy is one of unbreakable strength and a heart full of love. In his later years, he loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren, sharing his stories, cooking meals for family gatherings, and proudly decorating his home for every holiday. His creativity and passion knew no bounds—whether he was jogging, playing tennis, cooking, or writing, Leo brought warmth and joy to all he did.
Though he has departed from this world, Leo’s spirit will live on in every life he touched, in the laughter of his family, and in the songs he sang. May we carry forward his strength, his kindness, and his unwavering love.
We invite you to join us in celebrating his life. Please feel free to share a favorite memory of Leo or words of encouragement for those who will deeply feel his absence.
Our family would like to thank everyone for their kindness, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
