Lena Lucille Bales' Obituary
Lena L. Bales Feb. 25, 1924 – April 20, 2012 Resident of Hayward Lena passed away on April 20, 2012 at the age of 88 in San Leandro after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving family; daughter Beverly Boff and her husband Doug, daughter Connie Bales, daughter Nancy Haley and her husband Richard, grandson Raymond Boff III, his wife Lindsay, grandson Brian Haley, her sister, Wanda Teegarden and brother Marvin Strong. Clarence, her husband of 42 years passed away in 1991 and infant daughter Linda Kay, who passed away in 1950. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Hiram and Caroline Strong and spent her childhood there in various locations. She attended Oklahoma State University and after the outbreak of World War II worked at Linde Air Products where she met Clarence Bales. They soon married and moved to California to start their lives together, finally settling in Hayward in 1957 where she lived until the time of her death. A warm and loving woman, she opened her heart and the doors of her home to the many friends her daughters brought home, always providing a warm smile, a loving environment and a mother’s comfort to those in need of a safe haven. This became her legacy and she is still fondly remembered for the kindness and generosity of her spirit. Memorial services will be held on April 28, 2012 at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. in Hayward at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made in her name to Children’s Hospital, her favorite charity.
