Remembering Our Beloved
LEE ANDREW KIZZIEE
Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle & Friend
Lee Andrew Kizziee was born in Star City, Arkansas on November 12, 1941 to the union of Herbert Kizziee, Sr. and Alberta Kizziee. He was the fourth of eight siblings. Lee Andrew’s family migrated to California in 1947 in search of a better life for themselves and to be near relatives and friends. Oakland, California is where Lee Andrew was raised and educated in the Oakland public school system graduating from McClymonds High School. Lee Andrew attended several colleges taking courses to pursue a higher education.
As a young child, Lee Andrew confessed and accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was baptized at the Solid Rock Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Joe W. Jacobs. He later joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Oakland, under the leadership of the late Rev. Edward J. Price. There he served the Lord in several capacities; he was a member of the choir; singing was what he enjoyed most.
Lee Andrew met and married Vivian Ann Miller in 1963. To that union his first child, Cheryl Kizziee was born. In 1969, he met and married Vera Haskin, “his wife for life” as he affectionately called her. To that union of over 56 years, two children were born, Tracy and Michael Kizziee, two stepchildren (although he never addressed them as such) Mandel and Daphne Knight.
Lee Andrew was a hard worker even working two full-time jobs for several years. He worked 38 years for the United States Postal Service and retired as a Post Office Superintendent. After retirement from the Post Office, Lee Andrew continued to work and serve his community through the Alameda County Social Services Department. He eventually retired from there as well. Although he worked hard, he found time for his family. On his days off, he enjoyed going to the movies, plays, parks, fishing and many other places with his family. Lee Andrew loved all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He planned and organized many family trips.
Lee Andrew enjoyed all types of music; Gospel was of course his favorite. Lee Andrew led many songs in the church with his amazing tenor voice. He loved to play the guitar and would often sit with his children and grandchildren, serenading them with gospel songs.
Lee Andrew departed this life and went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2026 in Oakland, California. He was preceded in death by his father Herbert Kizziee Sr., his mother Alberta Kizziee, his brothers Theopolis (Smokie) Dunn, Therlo Watson (Eulah), James (Willie) Kizziee, Lee Edward Kizziee (Barbara), Herbert Kizziee Jr. (Kathleen) and his youngest daughter Tracy Kizziee.
