LEE 'BUZZ' BARTLETT KEPPERT, JR. LEE “BUZZ” BARTLETT KEPPERT JR. July 22, 1916 – Dec 28, 2006 Passed away peacefully early Thursday morning at the age of 90 years at the Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. Born in Deadwood, S.D. Lee “Buzz” was a longtime resident of Hayward, CA. Buzz served in the Merchant Marines and was honorably discharged in 1945. Buzz owned and operated “Keppert’s Towing” in Hayward for over 40 years. Buzz towed for the CA Highway Patrol as well as the Alameda County Sheriff’s Dept., and Hayward Police Dept. Buzz donated many cars to these organizations for the “Jaws of Life” program in the efforts to help save the lives of accident victims, and he was recognized and awarded numerous times for his generosity. Buzz was preceded in death by his parents Lee B. Keppert Sr. and Carrie Schoenberger, sister Clare Bassett, his loving wife of 36 years Shirley Keppert, and his grandson Marcus Allen Keppert, 15, who was killed on May 6th of this year by a drunk driver in San Jose. He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Jeanne Campbell of Castro Valley, Barbara Crealock of Palm Desert, Vicky Hayslip of Manteca and Carol Muth of Vallejo. He leaves three sons, Ron Reibslager of Patagonia, AZ, Steve Keppert of Hayward and Jeff Keppert of San Jose; 1 niece, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Family visitation will be held from 4:30 5:30 p.m., with friends and public visitation from 5:30 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4th 2007 and funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5th at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA. Lee “Buzz” was a genuine soul and Good Samaritan whose character, sense of humor, and spirit never departed from him. He will be truly missed by all his loved ones and friends.
