Lawrence A. Mize's Obituary
Lawrence A. Mize Nov 20, 1919 – Jan 15, 2009 Passed away on Jan. 7th at San Francisco General Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident. Larry was born in San Francisco. As a boy he helped his father build midget race cars while attending Mission High School. Larry joined the Naval Reserve and was called to active duty in 1942. He spent the next four years as chief engineer of the USS Cimarron, which many believe, earned more battle stars than any other ship in the Navy during WWII. After the war Larry started his own business, Broadmore Electric. Over the next sixty hears he repaired televisions in the early years and then moved into electric garage door openers in the late 50’s. Larry is survived by his daughter, Donna Johnson, and his grandson, Brian Johnson. Memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, at 5:00 pm on Friday, Jan 23rd.
