Laureta Atanacio Daquinag's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Nanay LoringLaureta Atanacio DaquinagJanuary 10, 1933 – January 9, 2019Laureta A. Daquinag, 85, widow of Bonifacio D. Daquinag, Sr., peacefully passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Castro Valley, California. She was born January 10, 1933 in Botolan, Zambales, Philippines, and daughter to the late Andres Atanacio and Maria Fronda. Her family moved to San Felipe, Zambales where she met military serviceman Bonifacio and they married on March 19, 1950.She grew up with a happy disposition and great appreciation for life. An only child, she enjoyed being together with family and friends; she loved cooking, sewing and watching sports events, movies, concerts and broadway shows. She was a big live entertainment enthusiast; she loved going to shows of Filipino celebrities and international artists! She was a simple, hardworking woman who had a great vision of the future. She loved the farm life shared with her husband in San Felipe, Zambales; likewise, she treasured memorable days in Olongapo City where her family resided almost 20 years before migrating to America in May 1986. She truly supported her husband Bonifacio in dreaming better lives for the family. And she was the force behind family migration – from the farm to the city and from the Philippines to California, USA.Fondly called Nanay Loring by many, she was a busy body; a remarkable, energetic woman; always active and loved being so. She worked in the farm, managed her small sari-sari store in Olongapo City, worked in a local mail distribution firm in San Francisco, and was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a doting grandmother. She was always eager to learn – pansit, chicken adobo, dinuguan are her main specialties; yet kept handwritten notes while watching TFC shows and tried cooking celebrities’ favorite family dishes, too! Wherever she was, she impressed people with her strength, courage and fortitude; and adored by others for her agility, kind soul, strong spirit, enthusiasm to learn and zest for life.A dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be lovingly remembered by her four sons, three daughters and their families: Mauro (Julieta) and their children, Brian Anthony (Kimberley) and Aubrey Mae; Delia; Celsa (Eusebio, Jr.) Raguine and their children, Stanley David and Laura Diane; Bonifacio, Jr. (Nelia) and their children, Jon Michael and Samantha Joy; Leoirick (Michelle) and their children Darren Scott, Christine Alexandra and Justin; Reydon; and Norah-Grace (Ludwig). She is also survived and will be greatly missed by great-grandkid Willow Rae, numerous adoring nieces, nephews, and extended relatives and friends. Those wishing to pay their respects, may do so at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA. Visitations will be Thursday, January 17th and Sunday, January 20th from 5pm to 9pm at Chapel of the Chimes – Reflection Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mr. Ben Calub. Services will be held on January 21st at 10 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with Rev. Father Augusto “Gus” Acob, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, CA.
