Lachman Perumal's Obituary
Lachman Perumal was born in Suva, Fiji on November 3, 1933. He passed away from kidney cancer on November 24, 2025. He was the oldest of 10 children. Everyone called him eldest brother "anna" out of respect. Although he came from very humble beginnings, he achieved the American dream and helped many others achieve their American dream too. He learned how to be a dental technician for the Fiji government and practiced the trade for 74 years. His work ethic was exemplary.
Lachman Perumal married Kamla Kurup in 1962, and they immigrated to San Francisco, CA in 1968. On his second day in San Francisco, he earned a job as a dental technician. He worked hard to support his wife, son, and daughter. He worked tirelessly to give his children great futures. He raised his family and lived in their home in Hayward, CA for the past 50 years. He owned and managed real estate, and a very successful business, S & S Dental Lab, Inc.
Throughout his life he was a devout Hindu, enjoyed traveling, working on cars, performing home repairs, watching sports and Hindi movies, and gardening. He loved being with family and never missed a family event. He is survived by his son, Sunil Perumal, and his daughter, Shalini Mabery. His surviving siblings are Florence Murti, Radha Venkatesh, Ganga Naga, Satya Swamy, Vijay Nambiar, Bobby Naga, and Sharda Shiffrin. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
His final words were "What a good life."
