KUM JAE HAHN's Obituary
Kim Hahn was born on August 20, 1945 in Incheon City, South Korea. She is the second oldest of 6 children. She grew up during the era of the Korean War and was forced to move around frequently with her family to avoid the fighting. In the summer of 1969, at the age of 24, she met a young and handsome U.S. soldier stationed in South Korea named Dieter Hahn while she was working at a hospital in Incheon City. They began dating shortly thereafter and on weekends, they traveled to various points of interest around South Korea. After about a year, Dieter had to return to the United States and they kept in contact through letters and by telephone. It was during this period that Dieter proposed to Kim and invited her to be with him in America. On April 3, 1971 the two love-birds drove to Reno, Nevada and got married. After their marriage, Dieter worked full time and attended night school while Kim worked at a hospital. They began their life together in San Lorenzo, California. November 19, 1976 would mark one of the happiest days of Kim’s life as the couple welcomed the birth of their only child, Gregory Hahn. Their family would grow again in March of 1982 as Dieter and Kim brought her eldest sister Martha and her son Raymond to live with them from South Korea. To provide a better life for the family, in 1984, she started a nursing home business which she ran for 17 years together with her husband and sister. After retiring the business in 2001, she was able to enjoy her time traveling all over the United States with her husband and sister. She would later find her greatest joy during her retirement in taking care of her two grandchildren. Kim was very happy to witness the marriage of her son on July 27, 2003 to Adrienne Bermudez. She would be a very supportive and nurturing figure in their marriage. Her first grandson, Devin Hahn, was born on November 10, 2003. She was excited to finally be a grandmother and she devoted much of her time in helping to care for him. Then on June 7, 2011, her prayer for a girl was finally answered with the birth of her granddaughter, Averie Hahn. Kim, along with her sister, would eventually come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and became baptized on February 20, 2005 at Cull Canyon Lake through their church Redwood Chapel Community Church where she continued to attend for the remainder of her life. While on vacation in Hawaii with her husband and sister, the Lord took Kim home on October 31, 2015. Kim is survived by her husband, son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, sister and nephew.
