Kozue (Kay) Kubo June 20, 1923 – Jan. 14, 2015 Castro ValleyKozue (Kay) Kubo unexpectedly passed away at the age of 91 from complications after a fall. She lived in San Lorenzo for 55 years prior to moving to Castro Valley. Born in Anahola, Kauai, Hawaii, she was the fourth of nine children. Kozue attended schools in Hawaii and Japan. Employers included Precision Founders Incorporated (P.F.I), Diablo Systems and Xerox. After retirement, she travelled extensively with her late husband, Eiji. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting. But her passion was in knitting sweaters, growing orchids and tending her persimmon tree and wisteria vines. She is survived by daughters Marlene Minako (Jack) Chang and Marjorie (Dave) Kanyer, two sisters in Japan, three grandsons Darrin (Nikki) Chang, Kevin (Christine) Chang, Ryan (Brenda) Chang, five great grandchildren, Nathan, Allison, Jeremy, Owen and Oliver and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Bertram in 1998 and her husband Eiji in 2001.A Memorial Service will be held on Feb.14, 2015 at 2pm at the San Lorenzo Japanese Christian Church, 615 Lewelling Blvd., San Leandro, CA.
