Kiyoshi Sakakura's Obituary
Kiyoshi Sakakura was born on February 12, 1936 in S.F., CA to Issei parents. He had two siblings, a brother Tatsuo Sakakura, and a sister, Kaoru Sakakura, who both preceded him in death. Sadly, during WWII, they were forced into an internment camp in Topaz, UT by the US Government. Once released, his family migrated back to S.F to rebuild their life through hard work & dedication; values he encouraged and instilled in loved ones & acquaintances.Kiyoshi didn’t just talk; he walked the walk. As an accomplished Chemist in his early and later life, he co-founded a polymer and resin company which rewarded him with success and much gratification. He was truly a unique, determined, wise, and well-rounded man. His pastimes included, but were not limited to, opera, jazz, & classical music, history, and viticulture. He loved most sports, especially football and basketball. As an accomplished athlete in high school, he was an all-city champion point guard at Washington H.S. where his name is still engraved on the school’s wall of honor.Kiyoshi loved blindly and was generous to the core. A remarkable man & true humanitarian, he is/was loved by people of many walks of life and will be sorely missed. He lovingly leaves his cherished grandsons Christian and Semaj, daughter Nyla, son-in-law Chris Clark, stepsons Nari and Hayn and numerous nieces and nephews in southern CA, as well as many close family-like friends near and abroad. A stellar man he was, is, forever, and always!!!
