Khue Kim Trinh's Obituary
Our mom, Khue Kim Trinh, was born in 1935 in Laos, which was
then part of French Indochina. She passed away peacefully,
surrounded by family, on November 17, 2023, in Hayward,
California, due to an undetected abdominal aortic aneurysm. She
was 88 years old. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, two
brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her husband of nearly
68 years, six children, seven grandchildren, one great grandchild,
two brothers, and one sister.
The Vietnam War was never kind to Mom. As a military spouse,
Mom single-handedly looked after and cared for us when our Dad
was away on the battlefield. Many times, she had no idea if or
when Dad would return home safely. However, Mom was
triumphant in managing to make the most of the life she had. She
was resilient and loving. Mom built the foundation that allowed
each of us to grow into the individuals we are today. She always
encouraged us to be the best that we could be, and to utilize our
education and life experiences for the betterment of society.
Mom had the joy of seeing all six of her children get married. She
was present at the birth of all seven grandchildren, and she was
thrilled to celebrate five of the grandchildren’s weddings. Mom
also had the opportunity to welcome her first great granddaughter,
who just turned one a few days before Mom left us. All of Mom’s
children and grandchildren knew that she embraced each one with
deep love and affection. Mom always sent a note or called each of
her children and grandchildren on our birthdays.
Thank you, Mom, for everything. You are our heroine. You left
this earth, but you will always live in us. You will not call us, but we
will always hear your voice comforting and guiding us. You will no
longer embrace us, but we will always feel your presence.
You were the best Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma any one
of us could have wished for.
Mẹ Trịnh Kim Khuê sinh năm 1935 ở Lào Quốc, thuộc Đông
Dương dưới thời cai trị của Pháp. Mẹ mất ngày 17 tháng 11 năm
2023 tại Hayward, California, hưởng thọ 88 tuổi. Mẹ để lại chồng
là Bố Đặng Hữu Thăng, 6 người con, 7 cháu nội ngoại, một chắt,
2 cậu em trai và một cô em gái.
Chiến tranh đã cướp đi tuổi thơ và cuộc đời của Mẹ. Là vợ của
một người sĩ quan trong quân lực Việt Nam Cộng Hoà, mẹ đã rất
nhiều lần đơn phương lo cho con cái trong lúc Bố đi hành quân.
Có những lúc Mẹ không biết là Bố có sẽ trở về an toàn được
không. Mẹ đã cố gắng hết mình để có được một cuộc sống an
bình. Mẹ yêu chúng con vô điều kiện. Mẹ đã cho chúng con một
nền tảng để nên người, khuyến khích chúng con học hỏi để giúp
ích cho chính bản thân cũng như cho xã hội.
Mẹ được chứng kiến 6 người con lập gia đình. Mẹ đã có mặt khi 7
đứa cháu ra chào đời. Các cháu đều biết là Bà rất yêu thương và
hãnh diện về chúng nó. Mẹ thường gửi thiệp và gọi điện thoại
chúc mừng ngày sinh nhật của các con cũng như các cháu.
Mẹ rất vui khi thấy 5 đứa cháu yêu lập gia đình. Mẹ cũng đã được
gặp đứa chắt gái đầu tiên, và mừng sinh nhật một tuổi của chắt chỉ
vài ngày trước khi Mẹ mất.
Cám ơn Mẹ đã cho chúng con cả cuộc đời của Mẹ. Mẹ là nữ anh
hùng của chúng con. Mẹ đã rời trái đất nhưng Mẹ sẽ luôn sống
trong chúng con. Mẹ sẽ không gọi tên chúng con nhưng chúng con
vẫn nghe tiếng Mẹ an ủi va hướng dẫn chúng con. Mẹ sẽ không
ôm chúng con nhưng chúng con vẫn sẽ cảm thấy sự hiện diện của
Mẹ.
Mẹ là người Mẹ, người Bà, người Cụ tuyệt vời của chúng con.
