Kenneth North's Obituary
North, Kenneth Robert died on September 29, 2004 due to complications of a stroke. He was 82. Born on June 24, 1922, in Franklin, NY, to Charles and Blanche North, he lived on a farm during his early school years.He Served in the Army during WWII. On August 26, 1950, Ken married Eleanor Mclachlan in Sidney Center, NY. He attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951. His Army work continued with research and development during the Korean War. Ken worked as a mechanical engineer in New York, New Jersey and Virginia.Ken and family moved to Livermore in 1968 to start his career at Lawrence Livermore Lab. He retired in 1986. During that time and after he organized and lead the lawn crew at Asbury Methodist Church.Ken is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his daughter, Barbara North; son, Ed North; son, Rob, Rob's wife, Lynne and their children Sierra and Sky North.A memorial celebration of Ken's life will be held Sunday, October 3, 2004, 1:00 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4743 East Ave, Livermore, CADonations preferred to Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org), Northern California and Northern Nevada Chapter, 2065 West El Camino Real, suite C Mountain View, CA 94040-2217, 650-962-8111Arrangements made with Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward.
