KENNETH L. NELSON's Obituary
Kenneth L. Nelson, long-time resident of Alameda, passed to eternal life on December 21 at the age of 75. Ken was the son of Russ and Edith Nelson. He graduated from Oakland High School and attended Bethel and Western Baptist colleges. He married Alice Barnes in 1959. Ken is survived by his four sons and their wives: Don & Claudia, Steve & Ming, Tim & Karen Tom & Linda. He was also the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren: Emma, Oren, Brian, Avi, Zachary, Joshua, Hannah, Christopher and Emily. He is also survived by his brother Bob and sisters Joyce Kennedy and Phyllis MacKinnon.Ken was a plastering and general contractor in the Bay Area for over 30 years. For many years, he was an active member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Oakland and Bay Farm Community Church in Alameda. Ken was a choir director, children’s, youth and men’s leader at Lakeside Baptist Church and led choirs at three other churches.Ken leaves behind a large number of friends who were blessed by his warm heart, wit and generous spirit. A memorial service will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 5pm, at Bay Farm Community Church, 3189 Mecartney Rd, Alameda, CA 94502.
