Kenneth Warren Bailey's Obituary
Kenneth Warren Bailey, 94, resident of San Lorenzo until 2015, passed away with his family by his side, Monday, January 6, 2020. He was born December 20, 1925 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Irma and William Roy Bailey and later moved to Kerrville, Texas. He joined the U.S. Navy in July 1944 as a gunner’s mate 3rd class on board the SS Charles S. Jones, traveling between Australia, Bombay, India and Abadan, Iran to get gasoline supplies for the troops during World War II. He was discharged with honor at the end of the war. While still stationed in the Bay Area, he met the love of his life, Lois Frances Hayes and they were married at Little Chapel of the Flowers in Berkley on June 16, 1946. They bought their home in San Lorenzo in 1951. He worked for several companies in quality control, until he went to work at Kaiser Aluminum where he retired in 1987 after 25 years of service. He and Lois were also members of San Lorenzo Community Church for many years. He and Lois spent 66 happily married years together and raised their family, before Lois passed away in 2013. He was also proceeded from this world by his brother, Robert Bailey, as well as his wife’s sisters, Anita and Marcheta, and her brother, Warner, as well as their spouses. He is survived by his 2 children, Bradley and Cara, 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Christina, Claudette, and Matthew, and 2 great granddaughters, Zoe
and Palmer, as well as his daughter-in-law, Jeanne and son-in-law, Thomas and grandsons-in-law, Kenny and Paul. Ken is best described as a gentle soul, who got along with everyone. He loved his family and his extended family, which included nephews and nieces, and family by marriage and association. Ken will be missed by many, not just those who called him “dad”, “grandpa”, “uncle”, and “poppy”, but now he is reunited with his beloved Lois. Services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward on January 18, 2020 at 1:30 PM.
