Kay (Mary Kathryn) Moore's Obituary
Kay MooreMary Kathryn “Kay” Moore passed away on Monday, April 11th at the age of 82. Born and raised as one of six children in the Dorsey family of Minneapolis, MN, her adventurous spirit took her to California in the mid-fifties. Eventually meeting her future husband, Bob Moore, she lived a long and happy life raising her own six children and enjoying her grandchildren. Though her husband and her daughter predeceased her, she never lost her inner joy, faith and spark that made her such a special person. While she spent many years raising her family, Kay never lacked for activities or enthusiasms. She volunteered at her kid’s schools, supported Little League and participated at her church, Our Lady of the Rosary. In the last decades of her life she became an antique and collectable dealer, working at My Friends and I located at Niles in Fremont, CA. Strong and independent, patient, giving and caring, wherever she went she met and befriended people. Her kids, their spouses and her extended family were the central joy in her life. Her sister, Bea Mary Dorsey, sons & son-in-law Bill (Kate), Terry (Cindy), Brian (Myra), Chris (Shannon), Kevin (Suzi) and Tim (Melissa) survive her along with ten grandchildren. She joins her husband Bob and her wonderful daughter Toni, who died from ovarian cancer in 2010. You can be sure she’s watching over her family and friends, playing cards and laughing uproariously in heaven. We will celebrate Kay’s life with a visitation from 5 to 9 pm on Friday, April 15th and a memorial service at 10 am on Saturday, April 16th. Both events will take place at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544; (510) 471-3363.
