Carolyn Marquardt
On behalf of the Marquardt Family, thank you to all who joined us at the service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Kathryn Marquardt on January 31, 2016 in St. Peter’s Luther church, San Leandro, CA. Thank you for all thoughts and prayers. Thank you Pastor Mark Oatman for conducting the services. Thank you to all doctors, nurses and Hospice caregivers who cared for our Mom. Thank you all family members for lovingly caring for our Mom in ways far too numerous to list here. We thank God for giving us Kathryn for our Mom. We have been blessed by this gift. We are grateful for the legacy that Kathryn and her husband of 68 years, Martin, gave us. A legacy of love of God and Family. While going through Mom’s letters that Dad wrote to her when he was in WWII in Italy we read what we already knew: their love for each other and God was clearly expressed in these letter beginning in 1945. Also looking through the thousands of photos they took on their travels throughout their lives together, we can clearly see how much they loved traveling together. Kathryn and her beloved Martin (2/25/25 – 6/30/15) had very full lives lived with joy. This is comforting to remember how fully they lived every day. Kathryn and Martin are now travelling on the ultimate journey, together again. We know we will see them again. We will always miss them, but they will always be in our hearts.
