KATHERYN YVONNE MURRAY LINDSEY
02 June 1936 - 07 August 2022
A descendant of early California pioneering families Ellis and Kilgore, Katheryn Murray Lindsey was a caring daughter, wife, mother, aunt, friend, and Godmother who died peacefully - unafraid because she was confident in Jesus’ promise to bring her to Him - in her Fremont home of 50 years on 07 August 2022 after a short illness.
She was born in Sebastopol, CA at home on 02 June 1936 to Arthur Floyd and Helen Adelaide (Ellis) Murray as child number 7 of 8. After graduating from Healdsburg High School, Katheryn went to the big city of Sacramento where she lived with her sister Peggy and family, and attended Sacramento City College, where she was mentored by famed California artist, Wayne Thiebaud.
Working at Cannaday News Agency, Katheryn met and married Keith Lindsey, who, along with son Kevin, preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters Kym of Fremont, CA, and Karina (Rev. Bruce J. von Hindenburg) of Tucson, AZ, numerous nieces and nephews, and her Godson Luca Barone of Rocklin, CA.
A member of Hope Evangelical-Lutheran Church, Fremont, CA since 2005, Katheryn was baptized with her husband and children at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Fremont CA, on 06 February 1966. She was an active member of parish life,`in LWML, served as 5th-8th grade art teacher at the School, and as chair of the art department, she coordinated annual school-wide art shows. She also worked as School Secretary.
Other civic activities included her participation with East Bay Scottish Association, and in Daughters of the American Revolution (Ohlone Chapter: Regent, Vice-Regent, Chaplain) where, among other things, she co-authored a book on Centerville’s Pioneer Cemetery.
Hobbies included gardening, reading, genealogy, interior design, entertaining, and shopping.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 PM on Wednesday, 17 August 2022 at Hope Evangelical-Lutheran Church 3800 Beard Road, Fremont, CA 94555. Inurnment will be with her husband at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward at Noon on 18 August.
