Rick joins me in sending my heartfelt condolences to Aunt Joan, my cousins & their children on the passing of my Uncle Julie. First to my aunt: I know that you are missing Julie a great deal, & this must be a very difficult time for you. The many years you spent together are a testimony to the love you had for one another. May the memory of his love for you give you strength; And may the realization of his enduring love for you …even though he has passed on…give you hope & comfort. To my dear cousins: I’m sorry for your loss. Your dad had great love & pride for all of you; And you, in turn, were devoted caring children throughout his lifetime. I know that the last several years were difficult ones for your dad, and your dedication of time, effort, nurturance & compassion surely brought him comfort & relief, and a feeling of being truly loved in his time of greatest need. May the memories of the steadfast love, support & devotion you have shown your dear dad, as well as his love for you, bring you peace & comfort during this difficult time. My thoughts, prayers & sympathies continue to be with you all. With love, your cousin/niece Diane & husband Rick.
I was saddened to learn of my uncle Julie’s passing. He was one of my favorite people. I will always love him. It’s been quite some time since I’ve seen him, but the times I did spend with him evoke many fond memories. From early childhood, I remember him as a kind, witty, bright & talented individual. He was a frequent visitor at my parent’s home as I was growing up. He & my parents would spend hours harmonizing into the wee hours of the morning! My dad, Carmine, adored him & was very proud of his musical talent. My dad founded the Crescent record label named after Crescent Avenue in the little Italy section of the Bronx where he lived with Uncle Julie during their younger years. The logo was a crescent moon, & Julie recorded a number of memorable songs on this private label. These songs were considered standards in the industry, & therefore, my dad & Uncle Julie believed that the advent of rock & roll was an obstacle to greater success. To my dad, he was always a “STAR”. He would play his records for anyone who visited our home, whether they were acquainted with Uncle Julie or not. Uncle Julie’s old records were among my dad’s prized possessions, & I’m lucky to have inherited several of the recordings that survived. I believe that as my dear uncle departed from this immediate place to a more peaceful world, he found my dad & they are again enjoying singing together. To paraphrase from one of his recordings “Cheek to Cheek”, I can hear my uncle sing, “I’m in heaven …and I seem to find the happiness I seek—I’m in heaven and the cares around me seem to vanish”. As the lyrics imply, he is now free of pain & at peace. He will continue to be in my thoughts & prayers. I believe that the prayers of all his loved ones will be heard…as it is written in my uncle’s recording of “I Believe”….”I believe above the storm the smallest prayer can be heard, I believe that Someone in the great somewhere hears every word”. Rest in peace, dear uncle. God Bless… With love your niece, Diane who has many beautiful memories of you. (next entry contains condolences to my Uncle Julie’s immediate family).
I hope it comforts you to know that your grief is shared by all of us who knew Uncle Jules. He was a wonderful man and he will be sorely missed
Jules will be missed by his loving wife and family but his legacy remains. May he Rest In Peace in the arms of Jesus
