Julius Rabeje Javier
Julius was born on February 17, 1953 in the Bicol province of the Philippines to Eustaquio and Rita Javier. He was the second born child of their 6 children.
In high school and college, Julius, served as the Corps Commander of the University of Nueva Caceres of Naga City, Philippines. In 1974, he went to Manila to join the Philippine Constabulary, which he was promoted to platoon leader while in training.
He immigrated to the United States to pursue his dream of joining the United States Marine Corps in 1977, for which he honorably served for 20 years, eventually retiring as gunnery sergeant. During his time served, he was awarded a meritorious promotion as a gunnery sergeant. He moved to California during his work as a recruiting officer, again successful in his endeavors. As a US Marine, Julius served overseas in Germany, Japan, and Somalia.
In 1979, he married the love of his life, Shirley, in an intimate ceremony in Fairfax, Virginia. In 1981, his first daughter, Juliet, was born. In 1988, his youngest daughter, Julie Ann, was born completing their family.
Julius enjoyed spending time with his family, whether it was taking his children on vacation, barbequing for his family, babysitting his grandchildren or taking road trips. He will be remembered by his grandchildren as their “Papa.”
Julius served as the President and then Assistant Director of the Naga Metropolitan Society. Under his leadership, he helped host many successful Fiesta of the Virgin de Peñafrancia. He lovingly devoted his time and inspired devotees and his family to continue their service to the Lord and Our Lady of the Penafrañcia.
Julius is survived by his wife, Shirley, his children, Juliet and Julie Ann, his sons in laws, Glenn and Rafael, and his grandchildren, Thalia, Aurelia, Catalina, and Elianna. He is also survived by his siblings, Edith, Jorge, Edna, Johnny, and Ernie, along with his cousins, nieces, nephews, his in laws, and their families.
