Julita C. Vitangcol's Obituary
Julita Concepcion Vitangcol of Union City, CA passed away on the evening of January 10, 2018, at Washington Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was 101 years and 6 months old when she died peacefully.Julita was known as Mama, Lola, Manang, Mommy and Nanay Julita to others. Born in Paco, Manila to Manuel Conception, a Spanish mestizo and Felipa Magkasakit of Manila and the province of Pampanga. She had her high school education in Manila. She took up Home Economics at the (PNC) Philippine Normal School.In her youth, her mestiza look was very prominent. She was Miss Pago (a beauty queen) in the district of Manila. At the age of 20, she was sighted, the courted and later married to Artemio Lapuz Vitangcol, a young lawyer and detective office with the Manila Police Department. Their union was blessed with 4 children; Nieves (Bess), Artemio Jr. (deceased), Carmen and Oscar (deceased). A dressmaker by trade and a good cook, she was a dutiful housewife and took care of her children. Her husband died during his line of duty, while enforcing the law, and was honored for his bravery and heroism. She was truly devoted to her husband, therefore never re-married. As a widow, while raising her children, Julita supplemented her family’s income by working as a dressmaker to help them with their college education.She was a great cook and would prepare food effortlessly and appreciatively for huge crowds. Her specialties were: Pancit Molo, Asado and Rellenong Talong, among the few. Her cooking will surely be missed by many!A caring person, she lived a quiet and simple life. She always reflected peace and warmth to everyone. Julita was a devoutly prayerful and religious Catholic. She liked to collect booklets, prayers/spiritual devotions and photos of her family and friends.Julita is survived by her eldest daughter Bess, son-in-law Dom, grandchildren, J. Dominic/ Monika and Aristotle, daughter Carmen, great-grandchildren, Alex, Nikolas and Gregory from California, while in the Philippines, daughter-in-law Florita (Del) Vitangcol, grandchildren, Jorge York, Jordan, Jonathan, Jake, Jason, 15 great-grandchildren, and in-laws.We miss you, but we know that you are in good hands now.
