Julio Santiago's Obituary
Julio Enrique Santiago Sr., of Hayward, passed away October 22, 2012, at the age 85. Born in Puerto Rico, Julio was 18 when he came with his family to California in April 1946. He was always very proud of his Puerto Rican heritage. Mourning his loss at this time are his wife of 28 years Adela, his sister Obdulia Fumero, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He leaves behind his sons Julio Santiago Jr. of Chico, and Marcos Santiago of Hayward, and daughters Benie Ruiz, Frances Reynaga, and Diane Ramos and sons-in-law Raymond Ruiz, Albert Ramos, Daniel Castillo, all of Hayward. Julio was preceded in death by Iberia Santiago, his wife of 38 years and by two daughters ' Daisy Santiago and Ruthi Castillo. Julio will be missed by his grandchildren Tara Vasquez and husband Anthony, Sarah and Richard Reynaga, Amy, Michael, and Ryan Castillo, and Isabella Santiago as well as his four great grandchildren, David Reynaga and Isaiah, Leia, and Nia Vasquez. He was preceded in death by his father Jose, his mother Antonlina, six brothers: Pedro, Tomas, Jose, Felix, Yeyo, and Rafa and by two sisters: Mercy and Lola. Julio was a golden member of Templo de la Cruz Church of Hayward. He had been the announcer of the church's La Cruz del Calvario radio broadcast for many years. Julio worked for Owens Illinois in Oakland for 35 years.There will be a viewing Monday, October 29 at Chapel of the Chimes from 6pm to 9pm. Final services will commence at noon on Tuesday, October 30 at Templo de la Cruz Church, 24362 Thomas Avenue, Hayward. Internment services will follow at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward.
