Julio Pequina's Obituary
Julio (known by his family as Julie) was born in Cotnugan, Polangui Albay in the Philippines on April 12, 1947 to Triumfo M. Pequina and Felomina P. Carino. He was the eighth born of ten children. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Bicol University College of Agriculture & Forestry. He did field work as a farm management technician with the Bureau of Agriculture and was later promoted to supervisor.Julie and his family migrated to the United States in January 1988. They lived in Union City, CA and eventually settled in Oakland, CA. He worked at Holiday Inn at Oakland Airport for 17 years. For the last 14 years, he worked at Oakland Unified School District as a teacher’s aide / para-educator for children with disabilities. He was also an active member of the Village Baptist Church.Julie had a gift of love and caring for everyone he met. He always had a kind smile and a pureness that radiated. He was a very patient, gentle, and soft-spoken man with an immense heart. Julie was the source of great strength and love for his family.Julie is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Margarita, Juana, Faustino, Abundion and Manuel.Julie is survived by his wife of 45 years Norma Mojica, son Nolan, daughter Norilie, son-in law Carlus, grandchildren Carlene, Charlene, Calel Julian, one great grandchild Madison Grace, and siblings Ildefonso, Antonio, Santiago, and Estelita.Julie went peacefully with God on June 7, 2019. He was surrounded by his loving family, and they will cherish and hold the memories of Julie forever in their hearts.
