Julie Marie Rodriguez's Obituary
Julie Marie Rodriguez was born and raised in Oakland CA on December 27, 1960 and fought her way into heaven on September 24, 2017. She was the only daughter to Socorra Trollinger and only sister to Jack Trollinger. Although she had no biological sisters, she always referred to her cousins Yvonne and Dawn Juarez as her sisters and shared endless stories of the three of them. She spent her early years making her mark in this world at St. Elizabeth in Oakland CA. Here she would go on to make friendships and memories that she would hold dear throughout her life. At the age of 18 she met the love of her life Vicente Arturo Rodriguez while cruising in San Leandro. They would go on to marry 8 months later and spend the next 38 years inseparable, bickering, laughing, and raising their 3 beloved daughters; Salina, Elena, and Andrea Rodriguez. She poured her heart and soul in raising her three daughters and was the most proud mother that should never be messed with. They spent most their times on the softball fields that she always recalled as being the “best times” of her life. She went on to become a supportive and involved mother-in-law to Ismael Navarro with which she would share a special bond. Then became ‘Buela to the loves of her life, her grand-babies, Olivia, Isaias, Xavier, and Iliana Navarro. At the age of 55 she was diagnosed with Renal Cancer and Cancer of an Unknown Primary. This is where the fight for her life began. She battled cancer just as she battled her whole life.. head on. She was strong, and courageous through it all. She learned more about herself during this time and was truly impressed by the woman she had become. She was always taken aback by all the love, support, and prayers she received. Cancer put up quite a fight but it was still no match for her. While it may have weakened her body it most certainly never weakened her spirit. She took it one day at a time mostly covering up all the pain with smiles, laughter, and music. She spent great quality of time with those closest to her and always ensured everyone she was doing it “exactly” how she wanted to do it. She was loved and respected by many and was a true symbol of loyalty, respect, & honor. There was not a dishonest bone in her body and she was truly a fighter until the end. She was a true believer in doing the right thing and was never one to shy away from confrontation in order to fight for those she loved. She never changed for anyone and always stayed true to herself. She was rough around the edges but had the purest of souls. She had the ability of making others feel like they were capable of achieving anything and was everyone’s #1 fan. She was always a fan of her music and had the most memorable dance moves and unforgettable laugh. These strong, courageous, and fun-loving qualities will always be remembered and missed but will live on through her daughters and grand-babies forever. Mom always said “I mean what I say and say what I mean”.. and she said “I will live forever through all of you”.. and once again just like always she is right. “Even though you can’t see me I will always be around” -Julie Rodriguez
