JULIA M. CAMPOS's Obituary
Julia Magno Campos, a former resident of Acacia Creek Retirement Community in Union City, joined her Creator on March 8, 2018 at the age of 93. Julia was brought into this world on October 1, 1924 in Taytay Rizal, Philippines. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Home Economics at the Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines. After graduating, she became a home economics teacher at the Central Luzon Agricultural College in Munoz, Nueva Ecija and the first dean of the College of Home Economics. Under the United States Mutual Defense Act in 1955, she went to Stillwater, Oklahoma to get her Masters of Science in Education at Oklahoma State University’s Agricultural and Mechanical College.Julia met her husband, Juanito E. Campos, at Central Luzon State University in Munoz, Nueva Ecija. While Julia was studying in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Juanito was stationed in Newport, Rhode Island as a Chief Petty Officer of the Philippine Navy. On June 7,1955 they got married. In 1971, Juanito immigrated to the United States . Soon after, Julia immigrated with her children so that her family could be reunited and begin a new, exciting chapter in their lives. Julia was a wonderful loving mother to her three children–Judy, the eldest daughter, a nurse at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center; Jun, a retired United States Postal Service employee; and Julius, the youngest son, a Superior Court employee for 32 years with the City and County of Francisco . In addition, Julia was a wonderful teacher and supportive grandmother to her five grandchildren: Joyce, Jessica, Jamela, Jaileez, and her only grandson-Jerico.Julia was known to be very skilled at sewing and designing her own dresses. She was also known to be a terrific chef in Filipino cuisine and delicacies. Besides being a great chef and seamstress, Julia was known to have a “green thumb”, especially when it came to growing and tending to her garden filled with vividly colored orchids and roses. Julia was Juanito’s favorite dancing partner. At every party they attended, you would see them dancing the waltz, tango and swing gracefully across the dance floor. In addition, Julia was known to be a superb public speaker. With little to no rehearsal, Julia could deliver the most eloquent speech and would always share her wealth of knowledge and wisdom with her audience. Julia is survived by her husband of 63 years, her children, and her grandchildren. Julia will continue to be loved and missed by all the people she has left behind. May she rest in eternal peace.
