Judy Chu Yong Jung, August 18, 1931- July 29, 2022, Milpitas
Judy Jung- wife, mother, grandmother, passed on peacefully on July 29, 2022. Judy Chu Yong Yee was born on August 18, 1931 in the village of ToiShan, Guangdong, China. Daughter of Jack Yee and Ping Wong.
After the Sino-Japanese war, Judy's parents emigrated to Vancouver, Canada leaving her to emigrate to Hong Kong on her own. She attended a school learning to be a master seamstress sewing "Qipo's-Chinese long dresses " for the Miss Hong Kong pageants.
In 1957, she emigrated to Vancouver, Canada and rejoined her parents and two siblings running the family coffee shop. She continued to sew for several of the garment houses in Chinatown Vancouver (and later in Oakland) while helping her parents in the coffee shop. She met our father, Sam, in 1959. He drove his new Chevy Impala from Los Angeles to Vancouver to meet her. They married in 1961 and relocated to Los Angeles.
After residing in several Northern CA cities, Judy, Sam, and their four children settled in Milpitas in 1977 where they built and operated a large restaurant opening in 1980. The family restaurant operated for 20 years.
Judy was an astute, hard working, fierce business woman, a talented seamstress, a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, an inspiration to her children, a prolific gardener and a generous person with her time and friendship. She loved to travel to China, Vancouver, and Hong Kong. Judy is preceded in death by her husband Sam (2006). She is survived by her four children: David of Milpitas, Linda (Sanjay) of San Jose, Jenny (Arthur) of San Jose and Gordon (Domenica) of Fremont her four grand children, Nicholas, Anisha, Abigail and Priya. Her brother Sherman Yee (Kirsten) of Vancouver, Canada, her sister Cathy Lee (Ken) of Las Vegas, nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Canada, China and USA.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. Rest in eternal peace mom.
