Juanita Balauro's Obituary
Juanita Chay Balauro was born January 31, 1939 in San Fernando, in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. She was the fifth of sixth children and the youngest girl. In 1962, she graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of the East, Manila, PI. In 1963, with her friends and little money she came to the United States to pursue her master’s degree at the University of San Francisco.Juanita married Restie Balauro in 1965 and had three children: Philip, Raquel and Brigitta. She also has four grandchildren and a great grandchild: Danielle, Daniel, Brittanny, Trinity and Brayden. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Juanita was very spiritual, compassionate, generous and kind. She was a great provider and sacrifced everything for her family to ensure they had a good education and a better life.She loved spending time with her family and serving at St. Anne’s Church. Juanita was humble and enjoyed the simple things in life. Her interest included playing majong, cooking, taking long naps, watching EWTN and reading. Her favorite type of vacation was cruising with the entire family. After nearly 29 years of service, Juanita retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1998.Juanita was diagnosed with gastro-intestinal cancer in January 2013. She underwent extensive surgery and chemotherapy. Throughout her nineteen month battle with cancer she remained the rock of her family. Juanita’s faith never wavered and she was always positive and hopeful. She accepted whatever the Lord has planned for her without question. Her only concern was for her family’s happiness. She did not want them to be worried or be saddened by her illness. She enjoyed the time being surrounded by the love of her family and longed for the day that she would finally be with our dear Lord.
