Juan "Johnny" Salinas' Obituary
With love and gratitude, we remember the life of Juan “Johnny” Salinas, who passed away on June 1, 2025, at the age of 71. A father, grandfather, brother, inventor, and unforgettable character, Johnny’s presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Born on April 20, 1954, Johnny grew up with a bold spirit and boundless imagination. In the 1980s, he made his mark as the inventor of the “Fist Bottle Opener,” a clever tool that gained popularity and earned him the nickname “JohnnyFist.” Known for its strength and style, the invention became a symbol of Johnny’s creativity, determination, and working-class ingenuity.
But Johnny’s passions extended far beyond invention. From a young age, he dreamed of becoming an actor, often captivating friends and family with his charisma and larger-than-life personality. His flair for the dramatic was matched by a surprising and impressive talent-mastering the art of nunchucks. His fast moves and confident style became legendary in his community, adding to the legend of “JohnnyFist,” not just as an inventor, but a true original.
Johnny’s most cherished role, however, was that of a family man. He is survived by his three loving children – Juanita Salinas, Nena Salinas, and Johnny Salinas Jr. -who will forever carry his legacy of humor, strength, and creativity. His memory also lives on through nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, each of whom he adored deeply.
He is also survived by twelve siblings, who shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and love. Johnny now joins his parents, Tomasa and Joel Salinas, and his beloved sister Leticia in peaceful rest.
Johnny’s life was a colorful blend of grit and imagination. Whether he was cracking jokes, spinning nunchucks, or sketching out big ideas, he lived with passion and authenticity. His legacy reminds us to never stop dreaming, never stop laughing, and always hold family close.
