Juan Salvador De La Cruz's Obituary
Juan Salvador De La Cruz was born on March 27, 1943 in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. He married his sweetheart, Purita Tolentino in 1963. They have been married for 55 glorious years. In 1964, his daughter Cecilia De La Cruz was born followed by his son Dante De La Cruz in 1967. He immigrated from the Philippines to the United States in February 1968. He worked at different companies and worked hard to support his family. Juan De La Cruz was employed as Facilities Emeritus by the Ohlone Community College District on October 20, 1975 and he has successfully completed over 31 years of service to the district and his devotion to quality in responsibilities performed has benefited the Ohlone College community of faculty, staff, and students; and his constant willingness to lend a helping hand, provided service and dedication to the District and has been the hallmark of an outstanding career; and his career of distinguished service to the Ohlone College Community concluded officially on November 1, 2006. The Board of Trustees accepted his retirement and expressed appreciation for his contributions and high level of performance. Juan Salvador De La Cruz taught us to love the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and fishing. He also enjoyed watching football and basketball and spending time with his family and friends. Juan Salvador De La Cruz will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He will also be remembered as a very compassionate, caring, generous, humble, and gentle man who would light up a room with his beautiful smile and the twinkle in his eye. Those of us he left behind are left with the fondest of memories. A part of him will live on within us all. He was a wonderful person and we will truly miss him.
