Joseph F. Sylvia, Jr Sept. 21, 1928 – Jan. 20, 2010 Resident of Hayward Beloved husband of 49 yrs to Anne Sylvia, devoted father of Nancy Sylvia of Hayward and Michael Sylvia and his wife Suzie of Livermore. He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Matt and Adam. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends Joe touched many lives simply with his smile, wit, and storytelling. His most cherished times were spent with family and friends. After retiring he and Anne spent a lot of time traveling across the U.S. finally sticking around close to home to become grandparents, Joe’s most prized activity the past 19 yrs. Later in life Joe became a big A’s fan joining the boosters and enjoying many great times with his Oakland A’s family. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Joe was born and raised in San Leandro. After serving in the Army he went to work for Caterpillar Tractors in San Leandro, retiring after 37 years in 1983. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 5:30pm at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA.
