Joseph Markovich passed away on January 1, 2023 at the age of 95. He is survived by his wife, Eny, of 60 years. He was one of Fremont’s first employees, and retired as a Captain with the Fremont Fire Department. He is also survive Read Obituary
When I first joined FFD the two Captains that I first met were Markovich and Lewis, other than my sta Capt Ted Holback. Joe was a joker and I had trouble knowing whether to believe him or not. After a while I would go to his home and kind of hang around getting to know him. Joe had an artistic side I found out about when he painted and detailed our racing hose cart. I can remember Joe and Eny joining us at the Firefighters muster in Columbia. We would camp out all weekend and compete in hose cart racing. I can remember Joe getting an old step van and making a very nice "motor home" out of it. Mary and I send our condolences to Eny and her family.
