Joseph J. Diaz's Obituary
Joseph J. Diaz May 2, 1917 – February 22, 2008 Passed away peacefully in Castro Valley, with his family at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Victoria; Daughter, Linda and husband Chris; Son John and wife, Marlene; Daughter-in-law, Arlene; Grandson, Anthony and wife, Lina; Granddaughters, Vita, Dearna and husband, Mark, Athena and husband, Mike, Ariana and husband Miguel, and Ariel; Great Granddaughters, Lily and Bethanny, and he will be remembered by his endearing and caring neighbors. Joseph proudly served in the US Army during World War II in the European Campaign. He was a survivor of the Normandy Beach Landing at Utah. He retired from the Alameda County Road Maintenance Dept. after 25 years of service. For several years, Joseph was Bobby Sox coach. He was honored in 1983 when a softball field at Tot Town in San Lorenzo was dedicated to him. Joseph’s favorite hobbies were watching all types of sports, going to Reno and nurturing his beloved rose garden. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, 2/28/2008 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, Funeral Mass on Friday, 2/29/2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church, 264 E. Lewelling Blvd, San Lorenzo, CA, Burial to follow Mass at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES 510-471-3363
