JOSEFINA CATINDIG MENDOZA JOSEFINA CATINDIG MENDOZAOctober 17, 1934 — November 18, 2017Josefina “Josie” Mendoza, 83, entered into rest on November 18, 2017, surrounded by her four children and loved ones. Josie was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1967 with her beloved husband, Benito Mendoza, Jr., and their children. They have lived in the Bay Area since then where Josie enjoyed a teaching career for most of her life. With her boundless energy, Josie also had a successful second career as a realtor. Josie and Ben (who predeceased her in 2013) enjoyed extensive travel, music, parties, and especially time with their family and many friends.Josie is survived by her children (Alicia La Fetra, Ann, Tito, and Benjamin Mendoza), her grandchildren (Nicole Broder, Noelle La Fetra, Carina, Abbie, and Jacob Mendoza), her son-in-law (Skip La Fetra), and her daughters-in-law (Chet and Nanette Mendoza).A viewing and memorial service will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544, from 10 AM – 11:30 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2017. A lunch reception will be held after the service, starting at noon, at Tomi Sushi & Seafood Buffet, 1604 Decoto Road, Union City 94587. Josie wished to be cremated and the interment of her ashes will be private at a later date. Guests may wear red if they so desire. In lieu of flowers, donations canbe made to a charity of your choice.
